    How to Install Ubuntu Touch 13.10 on Smart Phone

    Canonical who sponsored Ubuntu Open Source Linux project introduced completely new Ubuntu Touch 13.10 Saucy Salamander on October 2013. The Ubuntu Touch version is designed to run smart phones, to install Ubuntu Touch on phone is rather more difficult than install to regular desktops or workstations.

    Fortunately Canonical supplies full important programs to the public to install Ubuntu Touch Operation System 13.10 for smart phones, but there is a bad news that Ubuntu Touch can’t be installed on every smart phone on the market.

    Ubuntu Touch can only be installed on the Galaxy Nexus maguro, LG-manufactured Google Nexus 4 mako, Nexus 7 grouper, and Nexus 10 manta unlocked smart phone.
    To install Ubuntu Touch 13.10 Saucy Salamander on Google Nexus 4, you will need adb tools on phone to entering commands

    To add PPA and install necessary tools

    $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:phablet-team/tools
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install phablet-tools android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

    To enable USB debugging mode on your Google Nexus 4 smart phone, go to *settings*, then *about*. Press or click *Build number* seven times on the phone screen until a message pop up tells you that a user is going to paring. Choose *accept* to get ready to install Ubuntu Touch.

    We are now going to backup your phone, on your smart phone terminal, type in

    # adb backup -apk -shared -all

    To restore the backup files you just made

    # adb restore backup.ab

    Finally we can install Ubuntu Touch 13.10 Saucy Salamander on your supported smart phone

    # phablet-flash ubuntu-system --no-backup

    Note: The installation process will take sometime, so do not touch or do anything until the installation process is completed.
